What is the best workout for a minimalist during quarantine?

Only 28 hours until Lunar New Year's Eve and Vietnam is under a new wave of Covid-19 outbreak. So, no countdowns, no firework shows, everyone will be staying at home to celebrate Tet Nguyen Dan. For me, I believe that we will soon get over this period because we already have experiences to deal with this situation.

Working From Home is not an option anymore, now it's a must, everyone has to self quarantine. Staying home is not a problem to me 'cause I've got a lot of things to do. But I need to find a solution to keep me in shape because I kind of sitting before the laptop quite much (could be 8 to 10 hours a day).

I've been working out for 5 years. It helps me to have a strong mind and stay calm. It also changes my life a lot. I prefer body weight exercises because  I don't want to depend too much on gym equipment and also don't want to spend money on gym subscriptions. My best favorite workout is running, I also like cycling and swimming but during lockdown period, they are not good options. So it goes down to my only choice: jumping rope.

I have made some progress with jumping rope

Jumping rope is a really good exercise because I can do it everywhere at anytime. It also doesn't require a large space and the cost for a rope is quite cheap (only $5 - $20 for a good rope to start with). I jump everywhere: at my house, at my friend's house, at the hotel, or even in the quarantine camp. Besides, the result it brings could surprise you a lot: For me, I'd lost 15 kg (33 lbs.) from 85kg to 70kg in 1 year. Among 37 different kind of exercises (cycling, swimming, football...), jumping rope is the fastest way to burn calories: 1 hour of jump rope could burn up to 1,074 Kcal (the same as running at the speed 13 km/h for 1 hour). So, minimum cost brings maximum effects, if that's not minimalism, then I don't know what is.

Each of my jump rope session is usually about 15 to 30 minutes. It's a mix between cardio and HIIT interval training. For example, I would jump for 2 minutes straight, then rest for 30 seconds, that makes a round and I would do at least 5 rounds for each session. After that, I can do some extra body weight exercises like squat, push up or some random workouts I found on YouTube. The timer app I'm using is Tabata Interval HIIT Timer by Slydroid Development on Play Store.

If it gets boring, I usually choose some random jump rope workouts on YouTube. My favorite channels for jump rope are: Phoenix Nation and Jump Rope Dudes. Or for once in a while, I could jump 30 minutes straight, I don't do that usually 'cause it could injure my knees. When I jump, I'd like to put on some exciting music like Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, P.O.D, Linkin Park... or maybe just an audio book is good enough.

One of my favorite jump rope videos on YouTube

After workout, a cold shower is a like a refreshing then I will be very pleased to enjoy some good food before going back to work.

So what about you and what is your choice? Please share your experience to lay low during lockdown period to all of us. That would be very interesting.
